Abstract Blunders
This week for my art inspiration homework, I decided to forge into the world of Abstract Design. This piece is not based off of anything that was visually in front of me; however, it was an emotionally charged design. The project was primarily derived out of a desire to attempt an abstracted work due to the works I have been seeing my brother create. I generally focus on more literal pieces, but it was nice for once to be able to do a work from an emotional standpoint. My students also inspired me. As I was teaching an art lesson, I decided to join them in creativity. I was feeling emotionally exhausted and slightly delirious which is one reason I chose to use the darkness of charcoal to render my drawing.

Tonight in class as we had discussion about our art, the teacher commented that this piece reminds him of Vincent Van Gogh's "Stary Night". I found it interesting, because I have been teaching my students Van Gogh's works for the past month. :) I guess it is sinking in!!
